While we may not have Lake Superior, Clare County boasts an abundance of beautiful lakes, rivers, and streams. With 3,900 acres of open water and 330 miles of rivers and streams, there’s plenty to explore. Although some are reserved for private use, 18 lakes offer public access boat launches perfect for fishing, boating, and other watersports activities.

Clare County offers excellent fishing opportunities in its many lakes and rivers. The Muskegon, Tobacco, and Cedar Rivers are favorites among anglers. In the winter, ice fishing is popular, with many species of fish present in the lakes. As a top fishing destination, Clare County has recorded many trophy-sized fish over the years.
