Northern Clare County provides access to Michigan’s extensive off-road vehicle (ORV) trails. The Leota ORV Trailhead, managed by the Michigan DNR, offers over 55 miles of trails for larger ORVs and hundreds of miles for quads and smaller traditional ORVs.
Additionally, the Fur Farm Snowmobile Trail starts just north of Harrison and connects with the Leota Trail.
Proper licensing is required for all vehicles using these trails or parking at the trailhead. For questions about ORV vehicle licensing or trail usage rules, contact the Michigan Department of Natural Resources at the Harrison Operation Service Center at (989) 539-6411 or visit Michigan DNR.
Help protect Michigan trails by avoiding use when muddy. Riding or walking on muddy trails damages the surface, creating ruts, deep holes, and uneven tire and footprints, which contribute to erosion and make the trail difficult to repair. If you leave visible bicycle ruts, deep footprints, or hoof tracks, the trail is too muddy.
Tip: If you are leaving visible bicycle ruts, deep footprints, or hoof tracks, the trail is too muddy to use.
